The young ranger program is aimed at young nature enthusiasts between the ages of 7 and 15 years old who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in relation to the natural environment. Some members who are home schoolers build on the information we provide to make it part of the child’s school curriculum. But anyone can join if they are interested in nature. This is their chance to meet an expert and learn more about what rangers and ecologists do.
Activity Times: 3rd Sunday of each month from 10am-12pm to explore a variety of nature-based topics with local experts.
Note that spotlighting activities will be held on the Saturday night.
Young Rangers will also be invited to other activities at the Wetlands such as wildlife monitoring, special presentations and open days as appropriate.
Please bring your own morning tea. Hot drinks will be provided at the office.
Meeting Place: Activities may be in any Nature Reserve or National Park in the ACT. Otherwise, the Jerrabomberra Wetlands Offices (2 Dairy Rd Fyshwick) are available for indoor activities, or during rainy days.
Parents may join in the activities. Each activity can have up to 30 people with the whole family joining in.
The first activity is a "come and try", at no charge.
